The books you donate to the UDPL make a world of difference. In some cases, they go into the library’s collections, in others they are sold at our ongoing book sale, which generates profits to support Library programming. And sometimes we donate them to other communities in need. Here’s a case where Upper Dublin’s donated books made their way all the way to a school in Thailand.
Dear Directors and Staff of Upper Dublin Public Library,
On behalf of the students, teachers and personnel at the Pokapanichnukun Foundation School, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Upper Dublin Public Library for the books donated to our school this past summer. These books are now in our main school library. They are well read and enjoyed by our beginner readers. Some just enjoyed flipping through the pages. Others tried to find words that they can recognize. Whichever ways these books have seemed to inspire the enthusiasm to read and learn English. They have also been great resources for our teachers.
Pokapanichnukun Foundation School is one of four elementary schools in the main district of Krabi province in the Southern part of Thailand. The population in Krabi is approximately 52,867 as of 2010. With tourism being the main industry, knowing English has become an important life skill. We truly appreciate your contribution to the learning of our children. We will make sure to take good care of these books.
Mr. Apinan Kongpraditpol, Director
