Summer is here and so is summer reading, but we have changed things quite a bit this year. We no longer have a summer reading club, we now have Summer Quest! In addition to reading, the children have optional challenges to complete for more prizes. The Quest is for children birth-going into 6th grade. Teens can also join the Quest, they can earn scratch off tickets each week. There is still time to register and earn prizes. If you are a grown-up come in and check out their LEGO build. The kids get 10 LEGOs to add to the build if they complete two tasks in a week. It’s growing fast.
A big THANK YOU to the Friends of Upper Dublin Public Library for sponsoring the Summer Quest and our children’s programming.
Summer is one of my busiest times of year, I have extra programming and extra help. I visit summer camps and host visits from the Summer Scholars. My office is full of LEGOs and prizes and projects and paperwork. It’s messy, but organized. It is as it should be, a children’s librarian with lots of families visiting and using the library. Join them, come in from the heat and play or read a magazine. Draw a picture or browse the thousands of books we have. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
In addition to being so busy, I am in the process of planning the fall programming schedule. We will still have our usual storytimes and LEGO Clubs, among other regular programming. Is there is a children’s program you would like to see us offer? Let me know.
Happy Summer!- Miss Jenn
