Summer Reading Returns!: Friends of UDPL Proudly Support

The Friends of UDPL Proudly Support the Summer Reading Club

Now that we’ve celebrated Memorial Day, summer is here and The Friends of UDPL are excited to once again fund the library’s Summer Reading Programs for all ages! Registration begins on Monday, June 21 here.

To kick off SRC, a Write and Illustrate Contest focusing on animals is underway. Write and illustrate your own story, poem, poster, or graphic novel based on this year’s Summer Reading Club theme of Tails & Tales.

A major portion of the funds that the Friends provide for SRC goes to the Children’s SRC and related programming. In the last 5 summers alone the Friends have invested over  $32,000 in children’s SRC. And over just the last 10 years, Friends’ funds insured that SRC would continue to build literacy skills in more than 11,000 children, ages birth to 5th grade.

Consider the impact of SRC on our community’s children and the importance of reading and imagination for a child’s future life and career goals! The Friends are proud to have been supporting children’s reading programs for over 25 years.

To learn more about the Friends and other ways that they meet the needs of UD children and adults, watch this video excerpt from the Friends Annual meeting held in April.

Happy Reading!
