As if the weather wasn’t indication enough, something else is happening today that makes me absolutely positive that summer has arrived at UDPL! Beginning this morning, and regardless of your age, you can sign up for one of our 2015 Summer Reading Clubs. Our summer theme this year is “Every Hero Has A Story” and we are highlighting many different heroes, from superheroes to community heroes to historical heroes and, of course, library heroes too!
For our youngest readers, we have Miss Jenn’s super, awesome, fantastic Kids’ Summer Reading Club! This program is geared towards toddler-5th grade readers and includes a weekly reading log, weekly prizes, and lots and lots of great programs and entertainers! This year Miss Jenn has developed a special “We Read” log for our pre-readers that will make it easy for parents and caregivers to track the stories they read to their children. For our tween and teen readers, we have Miss Molly’s sensational, amazing, stupendous Teen Summer Reading Club! This program is geared towards 6th-12th grade readers. It also includes a weekly reading log. Bring in your log each week to receive a superhero button and five tickets for the end of summer prize drawing. You can also earn prize tickets by attending any of the fifty programs and events for teens and tweens. You can find out more about club sign ups and programs by clicking here: Teen SRC
For our adult readers, we have Kay’s remarkable, wonderful, incredible Adult Summer Reading Club! This program is geared towards all adults who love to read! Write and submit reviews of literally anything (books, movies, games, albums, you name it!) and be entered to win a weekly prize. And if you don’t win a weekly prize, don’t despair, your reviews will still give you a chance to win the big end of summer prize!
