Who may use the STEAM Lab?

UDPL is dedicated to providing STEAM Lab opportunities to patrons of all ages regardless of residency.

Is there any STEAM Lab technology that I can borrow and take home with me?

Yes! The Library of Things is a collection of items for loan that expands the boundaries of traditionally defined library materials. A natural evolution of the Library’s existing lending model, this collection supplements the Library’s approach to meeting the needs of our diverse and growing community.  Sharing, conservation of resources, and the idea that you don’t have to have everything you need in your home are key to the idea of a central collection that everyone can use. The collection also offers an opportunity to “try before you buy,” to save money, and to test out something you might not have come across otherwise. UDPL previously called this our “Circulating Technology” collection.

For more info visit the Library of Things page on our website.

How much does it cost to use STEAM Lab equipment?

Currently, participation in most of STEAM Lab programs is free. Some programs where extra materials or project kits need to be purchased may have a small fee covering the cost of those materials. Any program with a materials fee will be clearly marked in the program registration.

How can I become more involved with the STEAM Lab?

Please fill out our Volunteer Application.

How can I support the STEAM Lab?

UDPL is dedicated to offering opportunities for patrons to experiment with new and emerging technology beyond the LSTA grant period. Future programming will rely on support from the UDPL community and the Friends of UDPL. If you would like to support the STEAM Lab, please visit the Friends’ fundraising page.
