Because Helene-Marie Bertino, the author of 2 A.M. at the Cat’s Pajamas, is visiting us next Wednesday evening (1/21 at 7 pm) to discuss her well-received debut novel, I’m feverishly making my way through it right now on my Google Nexus tablet. It is, in fact, my nighttime reading. Where once a stack of books rested on my night table, now there’s still a stack of books but also the tablet. The times they are a changin’.
Cat’s Pajamas is a great first novel. Bertino’s unique style may throw you at first, but hang on. Once you get introduced to the characters, you’ll want to find out how it ends for them all. There’s no doubt in my mind why Cat’s Pajamas has received acclaim this past year. Bertino will be one to look out for. Request a copy (all of the UDPL’s are out at THIS moment) or check out a digital copy so you, too, can read it on your tablet or ereader in bed.
While I’m at it, be sure to check out the other great authors we have coming to speak at the UDPL this winter. It may be dreary outside, but there’s lots to inspire and enjoy at the UDPL.
On February 2, Brauhaus Schmitz’s Executive Chef Jeremy Nolan will be here to talk about his new cookbook New German Cooking. Don’t miss his cooking demonstration!
On February 11, author Terry Mutchler will be here to discuss her highly acclaimed book Under This Beautiful Dome: A Senator, A Journalist, and the Politics of Gay Love in America. They’re talking about this one nationally, folks, and she’s going to be right here!
On February 14, we are so excited to have bestselling romance author Grace Burrowes here. Some of you will remember that she was scheduled to visit last year, but was cancelled for inclement weather. We’re calling for NO SNOW this Valentine’s Day!
For more info on these or other library programs, see the UDPL calendar.
