National Library Week & the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day!

Library News Icon

Today, Sunday April 19, 2020, is the first day of National Library Week! This year’s theme is “Find the Library at Your Place” which has a special meaning in these strange and uncertain times. UDPL is committed to bring the library to you until it’s safe for you to come back to visit us again!

On Monday, 4/20, we will beginning a new kind of programming. We’re offering the same things we’ve always offered – storytimes, STEAM programs, lectures, classes, book groups, and ways to connect with others in your community. But now instead of offering them inside the library, we’re hosting them online! You can find out more about our new programs by going to our library calendar or by checking out our new programming newsletter.

This week is also special because on Wednesday, April 22, the world will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of Earth Day!

Our friends at the Upper Dublin Parks and Rec department have put together an ENTIRE WEEK of exciting Earth Day events including speakers, workshops, and activities for the entire family. Click here for a full list of all of their programs!

UDPL and UD P&R know that these are difficult times but hopefully this full week of programs and opportunities to learn a new skill, see your favorite library or parks staff member via video, or simply just to connect with your neighbors will make it just a tiny bit easier.

Happy National Library week to all the patrons and residents who make our library so great!

And Happy 50th Anniversary of Earth Day to all of us who are working to make the world a better place!
