Summer is very busy at the library; school is out, it’s hot outside, and everyone needs a good book to read on vacation. People are quietly reading in our Reading Room. Our museum passes are being checked out. Children are dressing up, creating art, and reading in the Kid’s Place. I’m answering lots of: “What books should I read this summer?” questions. The STEAM Lab is busy with innovation.
Summer Reading Club is in full swing, Almost a thousand kids are reading for weekly prizes and coming to programs. Teens and adults are reading for rewards as well.
But what about us? Do library staff members read much? Are we getting rewarded?
Yes, and yes! We are holding our first annual Upper Dublin Township Staff Summer Reading Club. Look for the books we’ve read on the book display near the front door. Mine will most likely be children’s fiction books. Join us in setting a good example for area children and read, read, read!
Reading Challenge Update: I’m trucking along, finding excellent books to fulfill my list’s requirements. I have read 25 books with 16 to go.
