Museum Passes

The Penn & National Liberty Museums both require you to call to arrange an arrival time.  Chanticleer Garden requires you call to arrange parking. Museum Pass FAQs

How can I borrow the Library’s Museum Passes?

Upper Dublin residents (with library cards in good standing) may reserve passes online up to 90 days in advance.

Passes may be picked up at the library after 3 pm the day before the reservation and must be returned by noon the day after the reservation. You can return the pass through our service window or the drive-up book drop on the exterior of the library building.

    • For example, if you reserve a pass for Wednesday, you may pick up the pass at the library after 3 pm on Tuesday and must return it by noon on Thursday.
How many passes can I reserve?

You may reserve up to 8 passes a calendar month and up to 2 passes a day.

Each individual museum pass may only be reserved once a calendar month.

Do I need to make a reservation with the museum before I visit?

In most cases you do NOT need to make a reservation with the museum. When  you arrive at the museum, all you need to do is show the library pass.

Penn Museum & the National Liberty Museum DO require that you call ahead to reserve an arrival time.

Chanticleer Gardens STRONGLY RECOMMENDS that you call ahead to reserve a parking space.

You will receive instructions on how to do this in the confirmation email you will receive after you make your reservation. There are also reminders on the passes themselves.

What if I don’t live in Upper Dublin?

Non-residents can still borrow available passes at the library on a first-come, first-serve basis or book online on the day of use. Call 215-628-8744 or see a staff member.

What are the overdue fees/and or replacement fees?

Overdue fees are $20.00 per day. Replacement cost is the price of the pass. Remember, your pass today may be someone else’s pass tomorrow!

What is a “No-Show”?

If you do not pick up your pass, or cancel your reservation more than a day before, the system will mark your account with a “no show.” Accounts with 2 no-shows will not be able to make reservations for 90 days.

Why are there fewer passes available than I remember?

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, many museums and cultural institutions have had to reevaluate their membership programs. Some of the museums UDPL had passes for have discontinued their library pass program. Other museums have not yet reopened to the public.

UDPL is continuing to work with area museums and cultural institutions and will be offering more passes to more museums as soon as they become available.

Can I print museum passes at home?

Currently all museum/cultural institution passes available require a physical pass that must be picked up at the Library.

Future museums/cultural instructions may allow us to print single-use passes. We will provide printing instructions for those passes as they become available.

 

While we will make every effort to assure success, UDPL cannot guarantee that passes will be available on the day reserved.
