Library of Things
Library of Things is a collection of items for loan that expands the boundaries of traditionally defined library materials. A natural evolution of the Library’s existing lending model, this collection supplements the Library’s approach to meeting the needs of our diverse and growing community.
Sharing, conservation of resources, and the idea that you don’t have to have everything you need in your home are key to the idea of a central collection that everyone can use. The collection also offers an opportunity to “try before you buy,” to save money, and to test out something you might not have come across otherwise.

The collection also offers an opportunity to “try before you buy,” to save money, and to test out something you might not have come across otherwise. UDPL previously called this our “Circulating Technology” collection. For a full list of currently available items, please visit the Library of Things page on our website. Watch this page as more collections are added. Upper Dublin residents (with library cards in good standing) may reserve items online up to 90 days in advance. Items may be picked up at the library after 3 pm the day before the reservation and must be returned by 10a on the date due. For example, if you reserve a pass for Wednesday, you may pick up the pass at the library after 3 pm on Tuesday and must return it by 10a on the due date. For more information, please read our Circulating Technology Policy. You may reserve up to 8 Library of Things items a calendar month and up to 2 items a day. Each individual item may only be reserved once a calendar month. Overdue fees are $20.00 per day. Replacement cost is the price of the item. Remember, your item today may be someone else’s item tomorrow! If you do not pick up your item, or cancel your reservation more than a day before, the system will mark your account with a “no show.” Accounts with 2 no-shows will not be able to make reservations for 90 days. Non-residents can still borrow available Library of Things items at the library on a first-come, first-serve basis. Call 215-628-8744 or see a staff member. If there is an item you would like to recommend to be added to the Library of Things collection, please email Molly Kane at mkane@mclinc.org Library of Things FAQ
