Fall Programs

Create a Coat of Arms

9/17 & 9/24
Grades 3-5
Program Room

A coat of arms is a group of pictures or symbols that represent a family. Does your family have a coat of arms or family crest? For centuries, families were known by their coat of arms found on their shields and/or in their homes. Each crest or coat of arms told about their family history and who they had become. A family named “Baker” probably started out baking bread, so they might have wheat and bread on their crest. Here is your chance to design your own crest or coat of arms and put it on a shield. Week 1 we will do some research and check out your family tree. Week 2 You will design your own coat of arms to be placed on a shield that you can take home. Children of all ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to register.
