Fun and Successful Day at the Friends Craft Show

The 2015 Friends of Upper Dublin Library Art in the Park Crafts Show (2nd annual) held August 15th proved to be very successful for the Friends (net proceeds approximately $2225), the crafters, and the buying public. We had 57 crafters at the event, presenting an impressive array of quality products. Besides the traditional wide variety of jewelry and greeting cards, other items included hand blown glass, mosaic ceramics, pottery, sewn and knitted items, quilling, woodworking products, pet accessories, and soaps/lotions.

Additionally, several area authors, including a father-daughter duo with a trilingual children’s book were well received. Surprisingly, one of the most interesting (and well patronized) crafters was a 12-year-old girl who made colorful duct tape products such as flat wallets. All of her proceeds go to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Almost all of the crafters who filled out surveys declared their intention of participating in the 2016 show; that is a good measure of success. A large number expressed their appreciation for the help by the Friends Volunteers in helping them set up and take down their spaces. We also received some useful suggestions to help us grow our show in future years. Sure, they’d prefer it not to be 90 degrees, but it seems unlikely we will be able to air condition the basketball courts….
