A Defense of the Holy Trio: A Discussion on Urban Birds – Wyncote Audubon Meeting

Mar 17, 2023 to Mar 17, 2023 7:30 - 8:30pm

Date: Third Friday of the Month
Time: 7:30-8:30p
Age Group: Adults 18+

Program Location: Shanis Auditorium & ZOOM

Description: Pigeons, starlings, and house sparrows are the most abundant and easily observed birds in urban settings. They can be entertaining to watch and to listen to. Give them a chance, and you might even appreciate their beauty. Nature writer Billy Brown discusses their history, their place in the urban food web, and why he recommends that beginning birders start with the most disrespected birds in the Philly region.

This monthly meeting of the Wyncote Audubon Society is open to the public in partnership with Upper Dublin Library. Join us for a new topic and new speaker every month. All are welcome!

Presenter: Bernard S. Brown (“Billy”) is a nature writer for Grid magazine and author of Exploring Philly Nature: A Guide for All Four Seasons will present this program.

The Wyncote Audubon Society is a Chapter of the National Audubon Society serving the nearly 2000 Audubon members who reside in major portions of Montgomery County and Philadelphia including Chestnut Hill, East Falls, Manayunk, Mt. Airy, Roxborough, North Philadelphia and Northeast Philadelphia.

Registration: Online registration required. Register on Eventbrite.
