Fairy Tale Art Class
Thursday, 1/25-3/1, 1-2p
Community Rooms (upstairs)
Illustrated editions of fairy tales have long been cherished in many cultures and continue to be favored today. During the 6-week course, we will both read and discuss the images, artists and printing and publishing of illustrated versions of six fairy tales to consider how the illustrations change, extend, or support the intended text and how those illustrations change over time or relate to cultural contexts. Hans Christian Andersen, the Grimm Brothers and Charles Perrault will be among the featured authors.
Presenter Dr. Alice M. Rudy Price received a Ph.D. from Temple University, Tyler School of Art in 2014, specializing in nineteenth-century European art and culture. Dr. Price teaches modern and contemporary art and architecture at Temple University, Tyler School of Art and at Philadelphia University.
