Description: Audubon’s community science effort, Climate Watch, seeks to understand how birds are being affected by climate change and to test the future range change predictions for twelve U.S. species. Learn about Audubon’s Climate Watch program, the science that is its foundation and some early results. Kathy Dale will talk about Audubon’s ground-breaking work to model the future of birds’ response to climate change and the way you can help ground-truth how your birds are responding.
Instructor: Kathy Dale is Audubon’s Director of Science Technology and Community Science team lead. This team helps to deliver Audubon’s Christmas Bird Count, Climate Watch and Great Backyard Bird Count programs to volunteers each year. Joining Audubon in 2001, Kathy also helps implement the technology components of these and other programs. She became a community scientist when she participated in her first Christmas Bird Count soon after college.
