Description: This monthly meeting of the Wyncote Audubon Society is open to the public in partnership with Upper Dublin Library. All are welcome! Several species of birds and many types of invertebrates are inextricably tied to army ants in the neotropics. Doug Wechsler will show some of these fantastic associations and their importance to the forest ecosystem.
The Wyncote Audubon Society is a Chapter of the National Audubon Society serving the nearly 2000 Audubon members who reside in major portions of Montgomery County and Philadelphia including Chestnut Hill, East Falls, Manayunk, Mt. Airy, Roxborough, North Philadelphia and Northeast Philadelphia.
Presenter: Doug Wechsler is a photographer, children’s book author, and naturalist. He ran the world’s most comprehensive collection of bird photographs at the Academy of Natural Sciences for 28 years. His work has taken him on expeditions to Borneo, Ecuador, Cuba, Panama, Cameroon, Alaska, and the Philippines. Doug is the author and photographer of 25 books for children including Blowholes Book Gills and Butt-breathers, The Cicadas Are Coming!, and The Hidden Life of a Toad.
