Description: Ukraine, Poland, Syria, Iraq, Yugoslavia, the Weimar Republic and the Soviet Union were all products of the massive conflagration that was World War I. We’ll examine the War’s origin, conduct, conclusion and results, both intended and unintended. We’ll look at the lives of the participants and try to draw some conclusions that help us understand today’s problems.
Instructor: John D. Sheperd is a retired Army officer and system engineer with a lifetime interest in history. Since 2007, he has taught several classes on war, defense policy and the circus at life-long learning programs at Delaware Valley and Temple universities.
