Description:  Jazz and the Great American Songbook are two of the most durable musical forms created in the United States. In this course, we will explore how these two distinct musical forms depend on each other for their existence as we celebrate the music of Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, George Gershwin, Hoagy Carmichael, Harold Arlen, Johnny Mercer, and more. No musical knowledge or previous exposure to jazz is necessary, just an interest to learn more about these exciting, uniquely American art forms.

Instructor:  John Banger is a life-long jazz lover and has taught courses on jazz appreciation for a number of years at various institutions in the Delaware Valley.

Registration: Online registration required. Click here to register.
