Coming soon to your local library…

Jenn, our children's librarian

Hi everyone, I have some very exciting news to share with you (you might have heard about all of these already, aren’t you lucky).

Item #1: 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

This is a free incentive program for families with children who have not yet started kindergarten. The goal is read 1,000 books with them before they start school. You will register at the library (this is also being offered at both Wissahickon Valley Public Libraries) and earn rewards as you read. The program is generously sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Ambler.

The program will begin in April, keep an eye out for registration information. Have any questions? See me, Miss Jenn.

Item #2 Marionettes are coming to the library

This week I placed an order for several marionettes so we can start our own marionette program. Debuting early summer (we hope) with shows throughout the year, our marionettes are all vintage with handmade props and locally produced scripts. I am very excited about this, I have performed with marionettes since childhood and have written several puppet shows. We are hoping to have our first show ready to kick off the Summer Reading Club. This is made possible by a very generous donor.

Item #3 Speaking of the Summer Reading Club

Our theme this year is: “On Your Mark, Get Set.. Read!” It is a sports/health and wellness theme. The Kids Advisory Board is hard at work on a promotional video, they are such awesome kids. This year we are challenging our readers to play Book Bingo in addition to filling out their reading logs. Look for more information soon! The Friends of Upper Dublin Public Library make sure our Summer Reading Club is amazing, thank you!

Wow, this place is keeping me busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Want to help me out, look for a soon to be posted volunteer job posting to help in the Children’s Department.

Miss Jenn
