Celebrating Libraries & Volunteers!

It’s National Library Week!  Here at UDPL, we like to think of every week as National Library Week.  There’s always a new book, engaging program, hit movie, or something else new and exciting to celebrate.

During the official “National Library Week,” which is this week (April 10th-16th), we celebrate the many wonderful volunteers who contribute their time and talents to the library.  Not only is it National Library Week, but April is also Volunteer Appreciation Month, so the pieces all fit together perfectly, making it the perfect time of year for recognizing our volunteers.

Whether they’ve been with us for 20 years or 20 days, UDPL volunteers each leave their unique stamp on the library, whether it’s assisting with a children’s story time or making sure the books are neat and organized on the shelves. Our volunteers are a huge part of what makes UDPL a special place.  We honor our volunteers with an annual luncheon, along with books placed in the library collection in honor of each volunteer. Check out the library display case this month to see the books that volunteers chose to have placed in the collection, along with the name of each volunteer who chose a book.

In celebration of National Library Week, join the UDPL staff in thanking a library volunteer.  In honor of Volunteer Appreciation Month, thank any volunteer, of any organization!
