This year’s Summer Quest theme is A Universe of Stories in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. Register this Monday to participate. Who hasn’t, at one time or another, wondered what it must be like to travel into outer space? For those budding astronauts, come to Astronaut Training on Saturday, July 20, 1-3 pm (preK-Grade 5).
There are numerous ways to explore A Universe of Stories through book, film, art and music events throughout the summer. Wiggle yourself silly with Silly Joe on Wednesday, June 26 at 7 pm (ages 2-10). Come experiment in the UDPL STEAM Lab (programs for all ages). Explore the UDPL after hours at Spider-Man into the Spider-verse on Friday, July 12 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm (grades 6-10).
The UDPL also connects you to the stars—star writers, that is. We’re featuring some hot, hot, hot New York Times bestselling authors this summer with our friends at the Wissahickon Valley Public Library, including Dorothea Benton Frank on Friday, June 14 (MCCC Science Center Theater, 7 pm) and Beatriz Williams on Tuesday, July 16 (Ambler Theater, 7 pm). Tickets on sale now at udpl.org. Also, save the date for NY Times bestseller Beth Macy who will be here to discuss a more serious topic with her latest book Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors and the Drug Company that Addicted America on Wednesday, August 21.
What’s on the horizon for the new library building? With contracts in place to design and construct the new library, we’re moving full speed ahead. Demolition inside the building has begun with construction to follow later this summer. We’re planning to touch down in Spring 2020! Receive enews updates on the project straight to your inbox. See enewsletter sign-up at upperdublin.net (select Library Project Updates.)
Happy Summer Reading,
Cheri
